Our light engines (housed inside metal heatsinks) work on power consumed (Electrical) and light output (Brightness) called lumens. The power consumed is measured in Watts but not all LED’s offer the same ratio of light output to power. How do you know which Lumens [lm] figure you need? As a basic guide, If you have a standard 2.4m high ceiling a 600lm to 700lm light engine will give you a good amount of Light, for higher ceilings we would advise you choose 900 lm upwards to achieve the same Light level.
Warm, cool or neutral are often used to describe the colour of the light you get in your space. This is subjective from one Manufacturer to the next, which is why we use terms called Kelvin [K] Colour temperature scale.
So, if you want a Warm and Cosy light, lower numbers on the scale will deliver this effect so you need to choose around 2700 Kelvin [K]. For a Cool and bright Clinical look, a higher number around 4000K will deliver. Daylight is known as 4500K - 6500K but most people prefer the slightly warmer 3000K. the choice is yours! How about 4000K for the bathrooms, 3000K for the kitchen, 2700K for the sitting room and 6500K for outside? The right choice is the one you are happy with based on the look and feel you want to achieve.
Light emits out of a fixture as a beam. We control this light to help get the desired look or meet a specific use. Flood and wide flood beams are used in most spaces when you want an even light across a wider space. Our WF (wide flood) option reduces the number of fixtures needed to give an even light in the space. Narrow spot and Spots work well with adjustable fixtures for task lighting as they concentrate the light, and equally look stunning when used in double height ceiling spaces creating a pool of light on the floor from up to 4 metres.
Colour rendering index is a measure of light quality. Mainly used in retail the higher the CRI number the closest to natural daylight you achieve. Most customers enjoy the 80cri in their home however with new designs bold colours and a 90 cri light can contribute to a Vibrant look.
Make your lights match your room. As Lighting manufacturers, we have access to a wide range of materials and processes to offer both standard finishes in metallics/ painted colours and Bespoke finishes and colours. For Bespoke colours simply provide us with the RAL number of your paint/finish. Plating finishes like polished chrome brushed Nickle brass and copper are all available your imagination is the limit. Don’t forget we can also seal the fixture for outside (under cover use or in damp spaces eg indoor swimming pool)
The LED light is not equipped to take electricity direct from the mains. For this you need to use a Driver to get the correct supply voltage and constant current, this is part of our supplied fixture. You can choose different types of drivers depending on how you want to control your light: Switching drivers (on off) and Dimming drivers on the 240V AC mains are the most popular as they can be used to replace you existing lights without any more wires. If you are looking for a home automation system, ask your specialist, if you need DALI or 1-10V these are the protocols that work with home automation systems.
Typically used in Commercial or specific Residential settings, Emergency Lights activate when the power supply to the regular lighting fails. There are two types: Escape Lighting and Standby Lighting.
We offer a range of accessories to use with your lights, typically used to solve an installation problem, convert or enhance your light, not all options are needed with each light or installation. Contact us if you need some advice with a specific issue or outcome you are looking to achieve.
